Who we are

We believe early exposure to computing changes what a child thinks is possible.

Code Gakko was founded in 2016 with a mission to make computer science education accessible to every student. We believe early exposure to coding, robotics and digital technologies equips students with the knowledge, skills and mindset needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Our programmes are built on hands-on, experiential learning, combining Design Thinking and Maker Education to develop computational thinking, creativity, problem-solving and digital literacy. Rather than simply teaching students how to use technology, we empower them to design, build and evaluate meaningful solutions to real-world challenges.

Today, Code Gakko offers programmes in coding, robotics, applied artificial intelligence and maker education, including Code Gakko Makers — our home-based maker programme — as we continue working towards our vision of transforming STEM education in Singapore and beyond.

AI can now generate answers, write code and complete tasks faster than any student can. What it cannot do is decide which problem is worth solving, or judge whether a solution actually works. Those remain distinctly human skills — and they are best developed by making things, not by studying about them.

Daphne Tan

CEO · Builder

Daphne joined Code Gakko in its early days and has led the company since 2016, shaping it into what it is today.

She started with a simple belief — learning outcomes shouldn’t depend on access to better resources, exposure, or knowing where to begin. But in reality they often do, and that gap compounds over time.

Boots on the ground, she built programmes where students created things that worked, beyond concepts. Those early experiments became the foundation for Code Gakko today — a testament to her builder spirit: creating from scratch, testing ideas in the real world, and refining them through practice.

Code Gakko Makers is her next step: extending that same experience into homes, communities, and new formats where students can build, share, and bring their ideas to life.

Our curriculum is guided by experienced educators, curriculum specialists and industry practitioners across computer science, robotics, AI, engineering and learning sciences — helping ensure our programmes stay pedagogically sound and industry-relevant.

Sean Saito

Founder / Advisor

Former Machine Learning Developer at SAP and Data Scientist at Boston Consulting Group. Degree in Computer Science from Yale-NUS College, contributing expertise in machine learning, data science and AI.

Alexis Seow

Curriculum Developer & STEM Lead

Degree in Information Systems from Singapore Management University; specialises in STEM curriculum design, robotics education and programme implementation across schools.

Monica Chan

Education Technology & Learning Sciences

Former Education Technology Researcher at Columbia University (Teachers College) and UX Researcher at Amazon. Specialises in maker education, learning sciences and design-based research, with qualifications from Stanford and Columbia.

    Data science workshops followed by a full-day hackathon with presentations, prizes and networking — run for JC, polytechnic and university students.

    An intensive instructional period paired with a month-long internship at one of our partner firms.

    Shopee partnerships
